Sometimes the ground moves. Uneven soil, settlement issues – you know the drill. That’s when you grab LLDPE.
Unlike stiff HDPE, LLDPE bends and stretches. Ground shifts? Liner moves with it. No cracking. Works great for ponds, canals, mining ponds, anywhere the terrain isn’t perfect.
The textured surface? That’s for slopes. More friction, less sliding. During install and years later.

Why pick LLDPE over HDPE?
Tensile strength isn't everything. Flexibility matters too.
LLDPE gives you: higher elongation, better flexibility with temperature changes, adapts to uneven subgrades. Still has good puncture resistance and welds fine. Plus the texture for slope grip.
We've seen stiffer liners die from settlement. LLDPE would've been fine.
Types & Parameters
| Parameter | Value Range | Notes |
| Thickness | 1.0mm – 3.0mm | Common specifications: 1.0mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm |
| Width | 1m – 8m | Customizable, commonly used 7m, 8m |
| Length | 30m – 80m per roll | Depends on thickness |
| Tensile breaking strength | ≥ 10 – 32N/mm | Compliant with GRI/ASTM standards |
| Elongation at Break | ≥ 100% | High flexibility |
| Carbon Black Content | 2% – 3% | Enhanced UV and anti-aging properties |
| Tensile yield strength | 15– 44N/mm | Depends on thickness |
| Surface | Texture/bump-like | Single or double-sided texture |
| Standard | ASTM / GRI | International testing standards |
Where you'll see textured LLDPE
· Fish/shrimp ponds
· Irrigation reservoirs
· Mining evaporation ponds
· Canal linings
· Wastewater lagoons
· Decorative ponds
· Temporary containment
· Cleanup sites
In aquaculture, texture helps on side slopes. Water levels go up and down – the extra friction keeps the liner from moving

Smooth vs textured – which one?
Flat bottom? Smooth is fine. Moderate slope? Single‑sided texture. Steep slope? Double‑sided.
Texture adds friction between liner and soil, geotextile, or drainage layer. If your embankment is steep or unstable, texture helps a lot.
How thick?
Depends:
· Fish ponds: 0.75–1.0 mm
· Irrigation: 1.0–1.5 mm
· Mining ponds: 1.5–2.0 mm
· Industrial: 2.0 mm+
Cold climate or settlement worries? Go a bit thicker.
Installation tips (learned the hard way)
· Clean the subgrade – Sharp stones = punctures later.
· Watch your temps – Morning and afternoon need different settings.
· Don't pull tight – Leave slack for future settlement.
· Use geotextile – Rough ground? Nonwoven underneath. Cheap insurance.
Real job: shrimp pond in Southeast Asia
A shrimp farm had uneven soil and big temperature swings. They used textured LLDPE on the reservoir slopes. Needed flexibility, slope friction, UV resistance, fast install. LLDPE worked. The texture kept the liner stable on wet slopes during heavy rain – smooth liner would've slipped.
Quality stuff you'll need
Most jobs want: thickness tolerance, tensile strength, elongation, carbon black, seam testing, UV resistance. Many reference ASTM or GRI.
Yeah, it's a list. But good quality saves headaches later.
Picking a supplier – don't be cheap
Check: resin quality, texture consistency, production capacity, welding compatibility (test it first), export experience, technical support.
For big projects, stable quality and on‑site support beat a low price every time.

FAQ
HDPE vs LLDPE – what's the real difference?
HDPE = stiffer, better chemical resistance. LLDPE = more flexible, stretches more. Pick what you need.
Why textured on slopes?
Friction. Stops sliding.
LLDPE okay for fish ponds?
Yes, very common. Flexible and waterproof.
Thickness for fish pond?
0.75–1.0 mm usually.
Can you weld LLDPE on site?
Yes. Wedge or extrusion welder works. Just adjust settings.
