High-Strength Tri-dimension Composite Drainage Network for Landfills

High-Strength Tri-dimension Composite Drainage Network for Landfills

Nov 03, 2026

Tri-dimension Composite Drainage Network is a new type of drainage material, consisting of needle punched non-woven geotextile and three-dimensional geotextile mesh core. The drainage core is commonly manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), with a three-dimensional net structure that creates continuous channels for in-plane water flow.

The three-dimensional composite drainage network integrates the functions of geotextile (filtration) and geotextile (drainage and reinforcement), playing an overall role of "filtration drainage maintenance". The unique three-dimensional structure of the three-dimensional composite drainage network has strong support, can withstand high-pressure loads during use, and can quickly drain water. Corrosion resistant, acid and alkali resistant, and can also serve as isolation and foundation reinforcement.

It is important to understand that a composite drainage network is not a waterproofing barrier. It does not replace an HDPE geomembrane or Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL). Its primary function is to collect and convey liquids through a designed drainage pathway.

Technical Parameters

Main Functions

1. Leachate Collection and Removal

Leachate is generated in landfills through rainfall infiltration, moisture contained in waste and waste decomposition. If it is not collected and removed efficiently, liquid can accumulate above the liner system, increasing the hydraulic head and placing additional pressure on the containment structure. 3D composite drainage network can be installed within the designed drainage layer above the landfill geomembrane. Leachate passes through the filter geotextile and enters the drainage core. It flows along the designed gradient toward perforated collection pipes, drainage trenches or sumps before being transferred to the leachate treatment system.

2. Landfill Side Slope Drainage

Landfill side slopes require controlled drainage to prevent liquid from accumulating within the liner system. Composite drainage network installed along the side slope provides an in-plane pathway for liquid flow. It directs collected liquid toward toe drains, collection pipes or other designated drainage outlets. Geocomposite drainage net also reduces the amount of aggregate that needs to be transported and placed.

3. Leak Detection in Double-Lined Landfill Systems

Some landfills use a double-liner configuration consisting of a primary and a secondary containment layer. A separate leak detection system may be installed between the two liners. A composite drainage network can be incorporated into this intermediate drainage layer to meet the engineering design. If leakage occurs through the primary liner, the liquid can flow through the drainage pathway toward monitoring pipes or collection points.

4. Drainage in Landfill Final Cover Systems

After landfill closure, rainfall can infiltrate the final cover system. If water remains trapped within the cover, it may increase internal water pressure and affect the performance of the cover and slope drainage system. A composite drainage network can be installed within the designated drainage layer to collect and convey infiltrating water toward drainage pipes or channels.

FAQ

Q1: What guarantees do you get when you choose us?

Product Specification: GJ/T452-2014.

Certification: ISO 9001/GRI-GM13.

14-Day Lead Time: Direct supply from Shandong manufacturing base (FOB Qingdao).

Q2: What is the service life of a 3D composite drainage network?

Generally speaking, the service life is 10-20 years. But the actual service life is influenced by material quality, long-term compressive and creep performance, geotextile durability, chemical exposure and installation quality.

Q3: Can composite drainage networks be used in landfill final cover systems?

Yes. They can be used in designed final cover drainage layers to collect and convey infiltrating water. Certain geocomposites may also be used for gas collection when specifically designed for that purpose.
