Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) for Reliable Seepage Control | Nuokun Geo
A Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) is designed to provide reliable seepage control where preventing unwanted water and liquid movement is essential. Made with natural sodium bentonite enclosed between durable geotextile layers, GCL forms a low-permeability barrier when hydrated. As the bentonite absorbs water and swells, it fills small voids within the liner and creates a dense sealing layer that helps restrict seepage through the containment system.
The combination of bentonite’s swelling properties and the strength of the geotextile layers gives GCL a practical balance of sealing performance, flexibility, and ease of installation. Supplied in rolls, it can be transported and installed more efficiently than conventional compacted clay, while requiring far less imported clay material on site.
GCL is widely incorporated into seepage control systems for landfills, hazardous waste facilities, tailings ponds, reservoirs, canals, underground structures, and contaminated site remediation. Whether used as part of a composite liner or as a secondary sealing layer, GCL provides a dependable bentonite barrier for projects where long-term seepage control matters.
